OCO is commercializing electro-catalytic technology which transforms recycled carbon dioxide, through the addition of green hydrogen, to produce the platform molecule known as formic acid. OCO does this by converting carbon dioxide, water (the source of hydrogen), and zero-carbon electricity, in a modular load-following electrolyzer device. Formic is then flexibly used as an energy-dense and hydrogen-rich platform chemical to make a wide variety of zero-carbon chemicals, materials and fuels in a low-cost thermodynamically downhill way.
